DURBAN - The semi-final match between Nigeria and Mali in the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) has kicked off Durban.

The West African sides are locking horns at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban for a place in the final.

Mali will be looking to advance to their first Afcon final against a team which has won the trophy twice before.

The Eagles finished third last year in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, but their record against the Super Eagles of Nigeria is not impressive.

In their last four Afcon encounters, Nigeria have won twice and drawn the other two.

About 36,000 tickets were sold for the game.
