'Reiger Park violence must stop'
A mourning mother has called for an end to the ongoing violence in Reiger Park.
JOHANNESBURG - The mother of a 16-year-old teenager shot in Reiger Park on Wednesday in an apparent gang related shooting says she is angry children are being hurt in ongoing gang violence.
The teenager was shot outside the Golden Shopping Centre.
He was rushed to hospital and is in a critical condition.
His mother says more needs to be done to stop gang violence.
"I am angry because this violence must stop in Reiger Park because innocent people are getting hurt. Children get caught in the crossfire and we cannot go on like this."
In a separate incident, a 40-year-old reformed gangster was shot and killed outside his home on Wednesday morning.
Police say the perpetrators came to the victim's house and parked their car outside the residence.
When the man came out to check who it was, he was shot.
