Mali sends warning to Bafana
Mali believes it has what it takes to knock Bafana out of the Afcon tournament.
JOHANNESBURG - Mali captain Seydou Keita believes his side will once again beat Bafana Bafana in an Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) quarterfinal.
Mali booked their date with Bafana by finishing as Group B runners-up with a 1-1 draw with Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday night.
Mali eliminated Bafana from the competition when they were hosts in 2002.
Keita, who spoke through a translator, said history will repeat itself.
"We're positive that we'll play well. We know they'll have home ground advantage, but we won't make it easy for them."
In another action, Ghana beat Niger 3-0 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
Ghana will now face Cape Verde in the last eight.
On Tuesday night, Burkina Faso will take on defending champions Zambia at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
In another clash, Ethiopia will face Nigeria at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.
