PRETORIA - Justice Minister Jeff Radebe has confirmed on Sunday morning that President Jacob Zuma will appoint a new head to the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) next month.

The SIU last had a permanent boss in December 2011.

It was then that former head, Advocate Willem Heath, resigned.

Over the past few weeks' pressure appears to have been building on President Jacob Zuma to make an appointment.

Several high profile people, anti-corruption organisations, Cosatu and business groups have all said that filling this job is a priority.

Now it seems The Presidency and the Justice Ministry have taken heed of this and will make an appointment by the end of March.
