Jennifer Williams parents are devastated following DNA results confirming she had been murdered.

CAPE TOWN - DNA test results have confirmed the body of a child found in the Ottery area is in fact that of a girl who had been reported missing.

Jennifer Williams disappeared more than a month ago.

A badly burnt body was found on a field in Ottery about a week after she was reported missing.

On Friday night, the family finally received the DNA results.

Ward councillor Melany Arendse, who has been helping the family, says the girl's parents are distraught.

"They are devastated and we should give them time to grieve."

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man is spending his first weekend in jail after being arrested in connection with a girl's murder.

Johan de Jager allegedly cut off Charmaine Mare's arms and legs with a bolt cutter earlier in January.

Investigators believe the 16-year-old was also raped.

Mare is from Mpulamanga and was visiting a friend in Kraaifontein at the time.
