JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng learners who qualify to write the matric supplementary examinations have until the end of Monday to register.

The Gauteng Department of Education says the exams will be written between February and March.

Department spokesperson Charles Phahlane said they would be offering free tuition classes aimed at preparing pupils who will be writing the exams.

He said the programme would be offered on weekends, over a four-week period from February 2.

"We've selected a number of venues throughout the province. The intention really is to say to learners: 'Go and register because we have a programme to support you and give you tuition to prepare you for the supplementary examinations.'"
