Probe into R8 deadly crash progressing
The IPID says it has the docket of the deadly Oxford crash and it is investigating the matter.
JOHANNESBURG - The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) on Friday said its probe into police involvement in the Audi R8 accident which claimed the lives of two people last week is progressing well.
The directorate said it had the docket since Tuesday.
There was confusion earlier this week and speculation that the docket had gone missing, but police are adamant it was always in the right hands.
IPID's Moses Dlamini said, "The docket was never missing. The IPID has had the docket for a number of days now."
Police officer Goodman Lubisi and businessman Areff Haffejee died in the accident which has raised many questions about what exactly happened.
There have been conflicting accounts by police and eyewitnesses about the circumstances leading up to the crash.
