JOHANNESBURG - Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund says he has done his homework on Cape Verde and he is confident his side can win their opening Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) game.

Bafana will face the West African side at the National Stadium on Saturday at 6pm.

Igesund says even though they have never met the Cape Verdeans on the field of play, they know what they are capable of.

"I've got a lot of information about how they play. I've watched all their DVDs and individual tapes of all their players so we are pretty aware of them."

Meanwhile, Bafana captain Bongani Khumalo says he cannot wait to lead the national team for the first time in a major competition.

Khumalo, who has played under 2010 World Cup captain Aaron Mokwena and Steven Pienaar, says he is grateful to be leading the side.

"It's a wonderful privilege of which I'm very grateful for. It's a great motivation and a great moment in my career as well."
