JOHANNESBURG - Eskom on Thursday said its Medupi power station in Limpopo remains closed following protests by those working on site.

Almost 600 employees belonging to contractors demonstrated at the station on Wednesday forcing Eskom to evacuate all workers.

It's understood the protest was sparked by some employees who were locked out last Friday.

Eskom's Hillary Joffe said, "We are working with them [the workers] and law enforcement to bring stability at the site and to get operations back to normal as soon as possible."
