JOHANNESBURG - The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) on Wednesday demanded answers about why the industry has been left out of transport plans for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

Together with the National Taxi Council and the greater Johannesburg Regional Taxi Council, Santaco says their exclusion is a total disregard for the industry.

Other modes of public transport including train and bus services have signed a contract with the Afcon Local Organising Committee to ferry soccer fans to the tournament, which kicks off this Saturday.

Santaco's Philip Taaibosch said, "There's this continuous undermining and disregard of the presence of the industry as a public transport service provider, especially within Safa."

Bafana will play Cape Verde in the first game at the National Stadium at 6pm.
