CARLETONVILLE - Harmony Gold said it would meet with all stakeholders on Thursday in an attempt to save its Kusasalethu mine.

The mine remains closed after violence during several wildcat strikes in 2012.

About 6,000 jobs are on the line, but management said it was trying to come up with a solution so that operations at the mine can resume as soon as possible.

Harmony's CEO Graham Briggs said they want to avoid retrenchments.

"We have had very little demands which have been able to take us forward, like demands for salary increases or demands for change in work conditions or anything like that."
