Fire spreads 4km in Atlantis

A fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon in Atlantis but didn’t damage any buildings.

CAPE TOWN - Around 48 fire fighters battled battling a blaze on Neil Hare Road in Atlantis on Tuesday.

The veld fire started at around midday and quickly spread across approximately 4 kilometres.

Two helicopters and 15 emergency vehicles were deployed to the scene.

Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services' Theo Layne said the blaze was close to a brick factory.

"There is no danger to the factory and no structures or buildings were destroyed."
