Rheenendal school bus inquiry postponed
The families of the victims of the deadly crash will have to wait a bit longer before they can get answers.
KNYSNA - An inquiry into the Rheenendal school bus crash which claimed the lives of 14 children hit a snag on Monday.
Proceedings were supposed to get underway earlier, but the matter was postponed.
The learners and their driver were killed when their bus veered off the road and plunged into a river in August 2011.
The inquiry will only resume in March.
This is because the owner of the bus company, African Express, did not have a lawyer present in court on Monday.
His new lawyer only received the 1,000 page-document regarding the case on Friday.
Some of the victims' family members were disappointed, saying they wanted to find out what happened on that fateful day and finally get closure.
Parent, Cathleen Vessel, said she had the right to know what led to her 12-year-old daughter's death.
The matter will run for three days at the end of March.
