Tickets for Bafana Afcon games selling out
The opening and closing ceremonies of Afcon have been sold out.
JOHANNESBURG - The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) on Saturday said South Africans have been buying tickets to watch Bafana Bafana games in their numbers.
This comes despite concerns over poor ticket sales for the tournament in general.
Last week it emerged only about 300,000 out of 500,000 tickets have been sold.
But the LOC said with the tournament kicking off next weekend, the public have been scrambling for tickets to watch South Africa play.
The LOC's Sipho Sithole said some categories, especially for the opening and closing ceremonies, are already sold out.
Meanwhile the Sunday Independent is reporting that the LOC has still not finalised details for players and fan transport to various stadia.
The passenger rail agency and LOC met on Friday and Saturday to discuss a deal, but have not been willing to release details.
