Police arrest murderer
After a shootout, police ascertained the man’s possible link to a Belfast murder.
JOHANNESBURG - Tshwane Metro Police on Saturday arrested a man linked to the killing of an elderly couple in Belfast in Mpumalanga.
The couple's bodies were found bound in a deep freeze last Wednesday.
The police's Isaac Mahamba said the man who was arrested in Mamelodi following a shootout with the police was found in possession of a pistol taken from the couple's home.
Mahamba said the shoot out ensued after a car tracking company called the metro police to alert them about a hijacked vehicle.
He said the man confessed to the Belfast murders upon arrival at the police station.
"They then went with the suspects to the nearest police station to make a profile of the suspect, only to find that this fire arm was the one that was reported stolen in the Belfast murder case.
