Zuma to deliver January eighth statement
President Jacob Zuma will announce his plans for the country during his much anticipated speech in Durban.
JOHANNESBURG - President Jacob Zuma is expected to tell South Africa how he wants to change the country in 2013.
He will be delivering the ANC's January eighth statement in Durban later.
He was re-elected with a strong majority at the ANC's Mangaung conference in December.
ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe has said the speech will not be a surprise to people who followed the party's Mangaung conference.
That conference saw Zuma strongly push the National Development Plan.
He told delegates it was the only plan they should look at.
Meanwhile, no reason has been given for the decision to hit the pause button on the National Working Committee election.
The committee is seen as hugely powerful and could see some (National Executive Committee) NEC members jockeying for position.
