Gauteng celebrates reduction in crime
Gauteng Community Safety believes its efforts in fighting crime are bearing fruits.
JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Community Safety MEC Faith Mazibuko's office on Friday said a reduction in crime over the festive was an indication that both the police and local government were making gains in ensuring the safety of residents.
While the festive season crime statistics are yet to be released, both the police and Mazibuko's office say efforts to win a constant battle against criminals are bearing fruit.
The national South African Police Service (SAPS) is expected to release the figures next week.
Mazibuko's spokesperson Thapelo Moiloa said, "We congratulate the police on their work. This contributes to the overall feeling that the community of Gauteng must feel safe."
