JOHANNESBURG - The Local Organisation Committee (LOC) for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) said it has seen a spike in the number of tickets sold ahead of the tournament next Saturday.

The slow sale of tickets had been a cause for concern for the LOC.

The committee's Sipho Sithole urged soccer fans to buy tickets so as not to lose out.

“People have suddenly realised the tournament is here.

“So you’re going to have a scramble for tickets that is why we've seen a spike in the ticket sales.

“We are sold out for category 1 and 2 for the opening game.”
