W.Cape prepares for late school enrolments
The Western Cape Education Department says officials will be deployed to help with late enrolments.
CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Education Department says officials have been designated to assist with late enrolments at provincial schools.
Six new schools will be opening its doors in the province in January, including four high schools and two primary schools.
The department said it is still assisting parents of about 350 learners who are struggling to find placement for their children even though 99 percent of learners have been enrolled for the upcoming school year.
Schools in the Western Cape reopen on January 16, 2013.
The department's spokesperson Paddy Attwell said, "Our metropolis north district will probably experience most of the demand for placement because Cape Town is expanding in that direction.
"There are rapidly growing communities in those districts and the department has officials who will work closely with schools to find places for new arrivals."
