JOHANNESBURG - The deadline for those who want to register for public hearings on Eskom's tariff hike application expires on Friday.

The power giant last year applied to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) to increase tariffs by 16 percent over the next five years.

Nersa's Charles Hlebane said the submissions made during these hearings will have a significant impact on the regulators decision to approve or decline the application.

"We are requesting that stakeholders and the public comment and give us their views on the application so that when Nersa makes the final decision, all the input and comments will have been considered."

The public can register by calling 012 401 4715/4033 or faxing 012 401 4700.

Members of the public can also register by email on publichearings@nersa.org.za.
