Plato worries for holiday gang violence
Dan Plato says it has been a quiet festive season for only a few of Cape Town’s gang-riddled suburbs.
CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Community Safety MEC on Monday said it had been a quiet festive season for most of Cape Town's gang-riddled suburbs.
Dan Plato said separate shootings in Delft and Elsies River last week claimed the lives of four people.
The MEC said those were sporadic gang-related incidents, as historically, gangs kept the peace during the festive season.
He said there were few cases related to drugs and gang violence during the festive season.
"We hope it will stay quiet in most of the areas. We are very worried about Elsies River, Lavender Hill and Hanover Park currently."
