Girl (8) still missing at sea
Authorities are still searching for a girl who was washed off the rocks at a beach near Mouille Point.
CAPE TOWN - The search for a young girl who was washed off the rocks at a beach near Mouille Point on the Cape Peninsula has been taken over by the police.
Authorities fear the girl (8) may already be dead.
The child disappeared after being washed out to sea on Tuesday afternoon.
"The South African Police Service (SAPS) divers have taken over the search and we have a rescue boat assisting them," said National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesman Andrew Ingram.
Meanwhile, Paarl police have also taken over an investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found floating in a dam.
The 63-year-old woman's body was retrieved yesterday, from a dam in Mbekweni in the Western Cape.
She was declared dead on the scene.
ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said: "Apparently the woman went missing on Sunday afternoon. Paramedics and local rescuers pulled her from the dam. Sadly, there was nothing more that could be done for her."
