JOHANNESBURG - Free State police have neither confirmed nor denied reports that they are investigating a man in the East Rand believed to have masterminded a plot to attack ANC leaders in Bloemfontein.

The City Press revealed that a police reservist named Jaco Scherman, who calls himself the 'Boere Ninja', has been training a right wing militia.

Four people were arrested after being caught in possession of ammunition and explosives as it emerged they were hatching a plan to kill ANC leaders at its conference in Mangaung.

The police's Billy Jones says detectives are expected to make more arrests as part of their country-wide investigation.

"The investigation is continuing. The investigators have indicated to us that more arrests are imminent."
