JOHANNESBURG - A Johannesburg Metro Police officer has been arrested for demanding a bribe from a Soweto driver.

The officer stopped a female driver, who exceeded the speed limit on Friday, and allegedly asked her for a R700 bribe.

The woman went to a nearby ATM to withdraw money and later reported the matter to authorities.

The JMPD's Wayne Minnaar says, "The female driver gave the officer R700 and then reported the matter to the internal affairs."
