Man dies at Beitbridge
The man's sibling told border officials his brother was receiving medical attention.
JOHANNESBURG - A man collapsed and died at the Beitbridge border post between South Africa and Zimbabwe.
While the exact cause of death has not been established yet, the man's sibling told border officials his brother was receiving medical attention.
The brothers were on their way home to Zimbabwe.
"He wanted to be escorted to the bathroom by the time the incident happened," said the South African Border Control Operational Coordinating Committee's Patrick Moeng.
"He fell between the bathroom and the bus so he was not yet in the queue to be cleared."
The Beitbridge border post has been experiencing an unprecedented number of travellers.
The committee also deployed additional staff to assist at the Beitbridge border post into Zimbabwe, as extremely high traffic volumes were recorded.
Moeng said they are processing about 30,000 vehicles a day.
"We are currently able to deal with that because we've got enough resources on the ground to handle that kind of situation."
