MANGAUNG - The weather bureau on Wednesday gave the African National Congress (ANC) the all clear to resume its national conference in Mangaung.

Earlier, the conference was suspended after the weather took a turn for the worse.

Delegates were ordered out of the main plenary tent, and media and business people were sent to permanent structures.

According to the ANC, the weather bureau cleared the way for the plenary to resume because the storm was not as serious as initially thought.

Delegates then headed back to the marquee.

One ANC member said they were surprised when they were told to evacuate the marquee.

"They said this to us because there would be a huge storm."

The ANC said presentations on organisational renewal, strategy and tactics will be made first by commission heads.

The much anticipated presentation on economic transformation will then follow.

The media is expected to receive feedback from the plenary sessions throughout the evening.
