JMPD officer killed in hijacking

Police are yet to make any arrests after a JMPD officer was shot and killed during a hijacking.

JOHANNESBURG - Police are yet to make any arrests after a Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officer was shot and killed during a hijacking in Jabulani, Soweto.

The 24-year-old off-duty officer was shot four times on Tuesday evening and died later in hospital.

His private vehicle and service firearm were taken.

The JMPD's Wayne Minnaar said they cannot release more details about the investigation.

"Unfortunately, we cannot disclose that information. There's still a manhunt for the suspects."
