President Jacob Zuma assured the nation that a competent team is taking care of Nelson Mandela.

PRETORIA - President Jacob Zuma on Sunday told delegates at the African National Congress (ANC) Conference in Mangaung that Nelson Mandela was receiving the best possible care, as he recuperates in hospital.

Mandela was admitted to a private facility in Pretoria over a week ago where he was treated for a recurring lung infection and also had gallstones removed.

Zuma moved to assure the nation that a competent team is taking care of Madiba.

He wished Mandela’s family all the best as they wait for him to be discharged.

The former president was on Sunday recuperating after an endoscopic procedure on Sunday to remove gallstones.

It was another quiet day on Sunday at the Pretoria hospital where Mandela is being treated.

Since last Saturday Mandela was visited by Zuma, his family, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and former president Thabo Mbeki but it is unclear if he has received any official visitors on Sunday as no blue lights were spotted.
