JOHANNESBURG - It has emerged that Ekurhuleni Metro Police chief Hlula Msimang, who is facing a murder charge for shooting an alleged robber at his Bryanston home earlier in 2012, has killed another person.

Msimang claims he shot the man during an attempted hijacking on the N1 highway five years ago, when he was the Tshwane metro police chief.

This week, the top cop's 2012 case was postponed to February in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID)'s Moses Dlamini said the body is investigating both incidents.

"This matter was investigated by the police. Based on the assessment of the evidence, we have taken the docket to the ICD (Independent Complaints Directorate) for a decision and we are still awaiting that decision."
