3 dead in major CPT crash

CAPE TOWN - Three people died in an accident when a bus and taxi burst into flames after a head-on collision on the N1 on Thursday night.

The two vehicles melted into one another on the side of the road.

The crash outside De Doorns brings the death toll to 27 on Western Cape roads in less than a month.

21 others passengers were hospitalised.

It is believed the bus had a tyre burst which causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The bus was en route from Nyanga to the Eastern Cape,

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said, "While we were at the scene, there was another accident at Du Toitskloof Pass where a taxi driver stopped along the road and got out of the vehicle when a truck hit into the taxi and the driver, killing him instantly."
