PRETORIA - The media remains camped outside 1 Military Hospital in Pretoria waiting for an update on Nelson Mandela's health.
The former president continues to receive treatment for a recurring lung infection after being admitted to hospital on Saturday.
There was still no word on Wednesday on when he would be discharged and return to his Qunu home in the Eastern Cape.
On Tuesday, the presidency said the 94-year-old statesman was responding well to treatment, but it was unclear what his progress was on Wednesday.
Dozens of journalists are camped outside the hospital, with military police keeping a close eye on all entrances and only allowing authorised people to enter.
South Africans and the rest of the world have meanwhile been sending Madiba well wishes for a speedy recovery.
The father of the nation won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, for his efforts in ensuring freedom for all South Africans.
