Forum cancels report ahead of Mangaung
The Forum for Public Dialogue cancelled its press briefing due to internal politics within Cosatu.
JOHANNESBURG - The Forum for Public Dialogue on Tuesday told Eyewitness News that its report was canned on the eve of its release because it might contradict Cosatu's position ahead of the ANC's elective conference in Mangaung.
The survey revealed that Cosatu shop stewards do not support President Jacob Zuma for re-election.
It also shows a divide between Zuma and Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe's supporters.
The Forum for Public Dialogue was scheduled to hold a press briefing to release its findings on Tuesday, but cancelled it.
The forum's Brutus Malada said, "When we made the presentation to Cosatu, it said we must release the complete statistics - meaning we must go back and do a full analysis of the rest of the questions. Only then can we release the entire study."
The Mangaung conference will start on December 16 and will take place at the University of the Free State.
