JOHANNESBURG - National Planning Minister Trevor Manuel's National Development Plan (NDP) will have a special a special place at the Mangaung conference, ANC Economic Transformation Commission chairperson Enoch Godongwana said on Tuesday.

He said it was hard to say what delegates would decide.

The ANC will be holding its elective conference in Mangaung from December 16.

Godongwana said claims that the party was ignoring the NDP were wrong.

"The ANC is giving [the NDP] a special place [in Mangaung]. In the economic portion [of the conference], we are going to look at the financial struggles and chapter four [of the NDP]."

This means discussions could have a strong focus on developing the country's infrastructure to stimulate the economy.
