SA Navy member killed at work
The South African Navy has launched an investigation following the death of one of its members.
CAPE TOWN - The South African Navy is investigating the death of one of its members in the Western Cape.
The official died at a military hospital on Friday after sustaining third degree burns.
It is understood he was among a team dispatched to destroy unserviceable ammunition and pyrotechnics in Touwsriver on Thursday.
SA Navy's Commander Greyling van den Berg says, "Particulars of the deceased will be released once his next of kin have been notified. The minister of defence and military veterans, secretary of defence of the National Defence Force, the chief of defence force and the chief of the SA Navy, send their condolences to the member's family."
