NPA sweeps on Malemas ally
The NPA has attached a farm in Limpopo belonging to Julius Malema's co-accused.
JOHANNESBURG - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on Saturday said it has attached a farm in Limpopo belonging to an associate of former ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema.
The North Gauteng High Court this week granted an application by asset forfeiture unit to seize Schuilkraal Farm.
Malema and On Point Engineers directors Lesiba Gwangwa and Kagiso Dichabe face charges of corruption, fraud and money laundering.
The NPA's Medupi Sima Siku said the seizure of the property comes after the Hawks discovered the farm had been bought from money acquired illegally.
"We were granted a court order to freeze the Schuilkraal Farm in Limpopo, which is registered in the name of the Gwangwa Properties, under Lesiba Cuthbert Gwangwa."
Meanwhile, Malema maintains the charges against him are politically motivated.
He was expelled from the ANC earlier 2012 for sowing divisions within the party.
