Father-son guilty of rapes
Booi & Rodgers Makhubela were found guilty of rape in the South Gauteng High Court on Wednesday.
JOHANNESBURG - Judge Roland Sutherland on Wednesday described the testimony of a father-son rape duo as "nothing more than lies".
Booi and Rodgers Makhubela were also found guilty of raping, robbing and beating 10 women.
The men faced 39 charges of rape, robbery, kidnapping and assault and were found guilty of each crime.
The two men picked up stranded women in their taxi, before attacking, raping them and then abandoning them on roads or velds.
During the trial, the Makhubela's claimed that almost all of their ten victims were prostitutes and had willingly consented to sex.
But the judge said logic and common sense showed their claims were false.
Sutherland added it was impossible for each of the victims, who had never met before, to have constructed the same story of being lured into a taxi where they were raped and assaulted.
Booi, the father, was found guilty of raping two of the victims and being complicit in all the other crimes.
Rodgers was found guilty of raping the other eight, while his father was an occasional accomplice.
