Dewani killer faces sentencing
Anni Dewani's murderer, Xolile Mngeni, will be sentenced on Wednesday.
CAPE TOWN - After four months on trial, Anni Dewani's killer Xolile Mngeni is expected to learn his fate on Wednesday.
He was found guilty of firing the shot that killed the British newlywed more than two years ago.
Two other Cape Town men are behind bars for pleading guilty to their part in her murder.
In a last ditch effort to keep his client from serving life behind bars, Mngeni's lawyer called a doctor to the witness stand last week to testify about the gunman's health.
He apparently suffered from a very rare brain tumour, and while it has disappeared following treatment, the court heard it may return.
However, prosecutors were adamant Mngeni should be given a life sentence.
They argued that the convicted killer showed no remorse.
