JOHANNESBURG - Workers started an unprotected strike on Wednesday at the Coal of Africa's Mooiplats Colliery in Mpumalanga following the company's suspension of four employees involved in illegal strike action in October.

All four of the mines underground operations have been stopped.

The Coal Miner has warned that the disruptions and the ongoing strike action will affect the viability of the mine and is likely to result in job losses.
