Father, son 'rape-team' to hear verdict
Judgment will continue on Tuesday in the case of a father and son accused of rape.
JOHANNESBURG - Judgment will continue in the South Gauteng High Court on Tuesday in the case of a father and son accused of rape.
Booi Makhubela (50) and his son Rodgers (29) are accused of 17 charges of rape, and 22 others of kidnapping, robbery and assault.
Four of the alleged victims' testimonies were repeated in graphic detail on Monday, painting a morbid picture of the apparent modus operandi of the accused.
It is alleged that in each of the cases, Booi and Rodgers along with their accomplices would pick up stranded women in their taxi and take them to secluded areas, where they would rob and rape them.
The court heard how one victim had her earrings torn from her ears, while another was told by one of the alleged rapists that he would give her a baby.
But the two men have argued that the sex was consensual in all of the incidents, and that some of the women were prostitutes.
Today, the other six victims' testimonies will be described in court, with a verdict expected later this afternoon.
