Father & son 'rape team' await verdict
Rodgers Makhubela (29) and his father Booi (50) are accused of 17 charges of rape.
JOHANNESBURG - The South Gauteng High Court on Monday heard details of one of the incidents involving a father and son who will hear whether or not they are guilty of raping and assaulting 10 women.
Rodgers Makhubela (29) and his father Booi (50) are accused of 17 charges of rape and 22 others of kidnapping, robbery and assault.
Judge Roland Sutherland earlier described how one of the pair's first victims was picked up on her way into Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg.
After getting into a taxi, she was hit in the face with a glass bottle and robbed of her handbag, and one of the men ripped studs from her ears.
She was later taken to a secluded area near Olievenhoutbosch, where she was raped by both father and son, and her eyelids cut to obscure her vision.
According to her testimony, the pair only abandoned her body because they thought she was dead.
She was later rescued by residents from a nearby community.
The pair previously testified that the sex with the victim was consensual, but that claim has since been dismissed by Sutherland.
