Free State Health MEC dies
The MEC’s 13-year-old daughter survived the car accident that claimed her mother’s life.
JOHANNESBURG - Free State Health MEC Fundiswa Ngubentombi and a policeman were on Saturday killed in a car accident on the N1 highway in Bloemfontein.
The Provincial Health Department's Mondli Mvambi said, Ngubentombi was on her way home from a World Aids Day event when they were involved in the accident.
Mvambi said the MEC's 13-year-old daughter who survived the crash is being treated in hospital.
"The Free State Department of Health is deeply saddened by the death of the MEC.
"We trust that the community of the Free State and the community of South Africa will give us the necessary support."
The Presidency conveyed its condolences following news.
