JOHANNESBURG - A two-year-old girl was in a serious condition on Saturday after being left in a locked car for several hours, while her parents were allegedly shopping on the West Rand.

The toddler was noticed in the backseat of the car outside the Hillfox Shopping Centre by a local minister.

Netcare 911's Chris Botha said the little girl was severely dehydrated.

“We responded, as well as the SAPS, the minister broke the window and pulled the little child out of car as it was very, very hot there.”

She has been stabilised and the South African Police Service (SAPS) are investigating the incident.
