Proteas wait on Kallis
The Proteas are hoping that all-rounder Jacques Kallis will be declared fit to play in Perth.
CAPE TOWN - Proteas captain Graeme Smith on Thursday said all-rounder Jacques Kallis should be fit to play in the third Test against Australia.
Smith confirmed Kallis will not bowl in Perth, but will fulfill a role as a specialist batsman if selected.
Kallis is receiving treatment for a strained right hamstring.
Smith said as a batsman, Kallis' role is vital.
"We won't take that decision lightly. If he's not fit then we'll look to someone to play his role but ideally, we'd like to have someone like Jacques Kallis in the game."
Meanwhile, Australia have rested bowler Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus.
