PRETORIA - Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi on Thursday announced the rollout of a new anti-retroviral drug regime.

The drug has been dubbed 'the most advanced drug in the world'.

He said a new "fixed dose" tablet that combines three ARVs into one, will be offered in South Africa from April in 2013.

Motsoaledi said it will change the way people take their life-saving drugs.

"This, ladies and gentlemen, in very simple language means a patient doesn't have to take three tablets, three times a day. The patient would only have to take one tablet, once a day."

He also said it should help people comply with their treatment.

This would reduce the side effects from the drugs and also the logistical complications to make sure people get their pills
