CAPE TOWN - Western Cape law enforcement officers made three arrests during two significant dagga busts on Tuesday.

A 30-year old man was arrested at a roadblock on the N1 between Worcester and Paarl with 200 bags of dagga.

Another man and woman were also taken into custody when police found around R40,000 worth of dagga in their possession at a roadblock between Beaufort West and Aberdeen.

These busts come barely 24 hours after the launch of operation Drug Watch, a Lead SA initiative, to help law enforcement clamp down on the drug trade in the province.

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said they were taking a 'no nonsense' approach to drug trafficking.

"Police and traffic officials had an integrated roadblock. They stopped a white Nissan vehicle and confiscated 200 bags of dagga."
