Neeskens confident of silverware

Sundowns has what it takes to lift the Telkom Knockout trophy, coach Johan Neeskens says.

Sundowns has what it takes to lift the Telkom Knockout trophy, according to Johan Neeskens.

JOHANNESBURG - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens on Wednesday said his side has a chance to win the Telkom Knockout trophy this weekend.

The Brazilians will face Bloemfontein Celtic in the Telkom Knockout final in Durban on Saturday.

The struggling Pretoria side beat Celtics 1-0 in a league game this past weekend.

It was their first win in a league game since August.

Neeskens said that result, coupled with several others, is a sign that his team is finding its rhythm ahead of the final.

"I think we should be confident ahead of this game."

Sundowns have won four out of their previous eight games across all competitions in the season so far.

Neeskens said he is not under pressure to capture the Telkom silverware, despite his club's long trophy drought.

"I don't get nervous. I hope the players can win this for the club. Let's wait and see. Hopefully, we'll see a good game."

The game starts at 8:15pm at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
