SA soldiers 'not in any danger'
The SANDF said SA troops are not actively engaging in the Goma conflict in the DRC.
JOHANNESBURG - The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) said South African soldiers in Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are not in any extreme danger.
Reports emerged that several hundred South African troops have been involved in skirmishes over the past week.
This after Rwandan-backed rebels captured the eastern hub of the DRC.
SANDF spokesperson Xolani Mabanga said, "The report that we have is that they are not in any danger at this stage. They are not in active engagement in the fight between MR25 (rebels) and government forces."
