Pro-Palestinian activists march in CT
Some Capetonians are marching to Parliament to handover a memorandum regarding the Middle East conflict.
CAPE TOWN - Dozens of Pro-Palestinian activists have gathered in the central business district to voice their concerns against killings associated with the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict.
They are expected to march to Parliament, where they will hand over a memorandum.
Pro-Palestinian supporters are adamant the killings in Gaza need to stop.
At least 162 Gazans and five Israelis have been killed in the bloodshed.
The demonstrators said they cannot just sit back and watch their brothers and sisters being killed.
They are holding placards and shouting "Free Palestine" and many have expressed concern particularly over women and children being killed.
They believe an intervention is urgently needed.
An emotional Suraya King cried while speaking to Eyewitness News .
She said the killings in Gaza have become too much for her to bear.
She said she prays everyday for the violence to come to an end.
Some protesters said the South African government should cut all ties with Israel.
Police are keeping a close eye on the protesters.
Meanwhile, the two sides have agreed to a ceasefire earlier.
