CAPE TOWN - Western Cape police are investigating yet another vigilante killing in Khayelitsha.
An 18-year-old youth was attacked and necklaced at the weekend, after being accused of robbery.
The police's Andre Traut said: "The body of a young man was discovered on Sunday morning. The circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated. We have reason to believe he was killed by members of the community."
This incident comes as the commission of inquiry set up to look into allegations of police inefficiency in Khayelitsha remains on hold.
Western Cape Premier Helen Zille instituted the commission following a series of mob justice incidents in the township this year.
In September, two men accused of stealing a cellphone were attacked and killed by a mob of Khayelitsha residents.
A 26-year-old man from the Harare informal settlement was stoned and beaten to death for allegedly stealing a cellphone.
His suspected accomplice, a 28-year-old man was also stoned, before being torched.
