JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police re-arrested an alleged serial rapist on Friday, who escaped from police custody in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate's Court in September.

Officers received a tip-off that he was hiding at a house in Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria, and cornered him.

He allegedly raped several women in Akasia, Ga-Rankuwa and Pretoria-North.

The man is accused of targetting women looking for jobs.

It is said he arranged appointments with them and then took them to a bushy area where he assaulted them.

Police spokesperson Captain Pinky Tsinyane says the man is due to appear in the dock at two different courts today.

"A 41-year-old suspect will appear in both the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate's Court and Pretoria-North Magistrate's Court following charges of armed robbery, escaping from lawful custody and several counts of rape."
